Guiding information 6.3: coaching is about … coaching is not about

Look at the two columns below. They try to summarize some very important things about how you should do coaching – and also how you should not do coaching.

To be a really good coach you need to establish a sound professional relationship with the learning partner. You need to ask questions that are thoughtful and appropriate.

You must be a good listener who responds to what the learning partner is saying. You must listen and be interested in what the learning partner says. You must not repeat anything said or learnt in a coaching session to anyone else.
