UNIT 6: Overview
Group Work and Collaborative Learning
Overview
Collaboration is defined as follows:
“Collaboration is the situation of two or more people working together to create or achieve the same thing” (Cambridge University Press, n.d.).

Group work is when learners work together to complete an activity. Depending on the activity, learners can be grouped with others of the same ability level or in a mixed ability group. All learners must participate and contribute their strengths to the group. It is important for the teacher to actively facilitate and monitor group work.
Reflection
Think about a time that you worked as a member of a team to achieve a goal. Reflect on the following questions and share with your WhatsApp group:
- How did it feel to work as a team, in a group?
- Share some ideas about how you will plan and evaluate group work in your own class.
