Guiding Information 5.4 : Planning a CPD session or workshop
Identify a colleague who is familiar, or help them to become familiar, with at least some of the information above (this could be a middle-level leader, an experienced teacher or the Head Teacher). Ask them to assist you plan a 60-minutes Continuous Professional Development session for all teachers on ‘safeguarding and child protection’.

Try following the guidance below when you manage your next meeting/session/workshop.
On the next page you will find a planning template for a meeting/session/workshop. This template can be altered to suit your needs. Use this, with your colleague, to plan the 60 minutes CPD session.
Here is a list of things that you are probably going to need to use in the meeting/session/workshop. Plan your workshop before you finalise the list of things you will need
- The definition of ‘safeguarding’ written on a piece of (preferably) poster paper, as it appears in Learning Task 5.1.
- The definition of ‘child protection’ on a piece of (preferably) poster paper, as it appears in Learning Task 5.1.
- A piece of (preferably) poster paper with the word ‘Dos’ on it.
- A piece of (preferably) poster paper with the word ‘Don’ts’ on it.
- Small pieces of paper, each with one of the ‘Dos’ or ‘Don’ts’ on it.
- Some sticky tape or masking tape so that the small pieces of paper can be stuck on the ‘Dos’ or ‘Don’ts’ poster.
