Guiding information 2.4: coaching session 2 with the Head Teacher
This is your second of eight coaching sessions over the course. In these sessions you will work closely with your Head Teacher and the aim is that this will help you to understand your roles and duties as the Responsible of the primary section at your school. Book the time with the Head Teacher at least one or two days in advance.
- Discuss the draft working job description you have developed, in 2.3, with your Head Teacher. Explain the description to the Head Teacher. Be open to questions and suggestions that he/she may make. Make some notes, in your learning diary, if these will help you to remember the suggestions for later. Agree that you will bring a ‘revised’ working job description to the next coaching session. (No more than 40 minutes).
- Talk about how to do the following task, which you will discuss in the next coaching session: Write a list of two new things which you could do to help the Head Teacher do his/her senior leader of learning job better. (No more than 10 minutes.
How might the School Middle Level-Laeder assist the Head Teacher? Here are some ideas: *Reading the School Improvement Planning and checking that it is complete. *Taking responsibility for discussing and implementing part of it, with others. *Reviewing the record keeping of Continuous Professional Development and Community of Practice and making sure they are up to date. *Visiting or observing a few lessons *Bringing charts on the Head Teacher’s wall up to date. |
