Week 1: Summary
Congratulations on completing Week 1 of the eTutoring course!
In this week, you have learned the concept of online learning communities and different environments and tools that enable interaction in these communities: discussion forum, live chat rooms, Facebook, and Twitter hashtags. You have also learned how interaction in learning communities may be conducted synchronously or asynchronously. Etutor's roles and tasks related to communication, content, and organisation were explored followed by eTutors' qualifications or competencies as well as eTutors' workflow. Equally, you learned different components of a positive and constructive feedback on online learner's work as well as how timely and positive feedback is provided learners'queries. In addition, different sources of motivation to online learners as well as how you may host your learners and help the manage their time were covered. Towards the end of the week, you explored how you may react to troubles that may emerge in an online course and organise learners into groups and motivate these groups.
You also tested your own learning and mastery of the content all along the course by answering different quiz questions.
We look forward to more progress in your second week of the course. See you then!
