  • WHAT IS GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE?

    Gender-based violence (GBV) refers to any action done to a person that brings harm or distress to them because of that person’s perceived or actual gender and/or sex (because they are a girl or a boy, a man or a woman). Evidence shows that many people do not even realise that they are victims of gender-based violence or are GBV perpetrators (a person can abuse another person without realising that what they are doing is abuse and criminal). Gender-based violence can also cause long-lasting trauma. That is why young people must learn about GBV.
