Sub-unit Competency: Issues on Sustaining ICT in Schools

In this sub-unit we will look at practicalities of sustaining the investments made in the school ICT platform and what strategies could be implemented to ensure this. We will look at the establishment of school maintenance units, budgeting for ICT repairs and upgrades and how we might raise additional funds specifically to support and grow the school's ICT. What can be done to ensure that ICT aquistions are not wasted? Watch the video below that identifes what one Rwandan headmaster has done to ensure security, maintance and budgeting.

Activity 8: Computer System Sustainability Toolkit

1. Access the reading below; Computer System Sustainability Toolkit. The whole document is worth studying but for this exercise we will investigate, Unit 6: Creating Your Sustainability Plan and particularly, the establishement of a Student Support Technician's Club (see p89-95) and also Unit 7: Generating Income (p.98-112).
