Introduction
Welcome to the online component of Digital Literacy for Online Learning course/training
This course component Digital Literacy and Online Learning, was developed to help you to boost your confidence in online learning. You'll explore useful skills, so you can discover how ready you are to learn online and how to develop your study skills to become a successful online learner. You will explore useful study skills, time management, assessment, becoming digitally ready, and effective engagement with course materials.
After studying this course, you should be able to:
- use learning technologies confidently and critically to achieve your study or continuing professional development
- identify areas of study strengths in preparation for becoming an online learner
- explore and reflect on skills that are valuable for online study
- identify opportunities to further develop your skills as an online learner
- understand the attributes of a successful online learner
All the course materials presented in this Learning Management System (online learning environment) complement the training on ICT basic literacy you received from your digital literacy trainers. As you navigate through this course, you will develop competencies you need to learn online successfully and this will be evidenced by your completion of the course and understanding of key concepts, issues and activities online learners face on a daily basis.
Facilitation by digital literacy trainers
This course will be facilitated by two digital literacy trainers per each training centre. If you have any questions or need any support, please let your digital literacy trainers know.
Assessment
Every work you produce in Digital Literacy for Online Learning is assessed (Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoints files, emails you write, quizzes you take in this online learning components, your posts to the course forum and the completed pages of this online component of the training/course. You will pass the course when you have uploaded your work produced in the first component of the course (ICT Basic Literacy), completed all course pages, contributed to all forum discussion as indicated, taken all quizzes and completed the end of course survey.
